The Ruru in hard enamel designed by Wellington creative; Natty.

Many Ruru live on Tiritiri Matangi Island. They usually snooze during the day and are more active at night, their haunting calls and screeches can be heard in the dark. These small owls are endemic predators flying silently through the night.

This enamel pin has glow in the dark eyes! expose the pin to light for approx 30 min to activate the glow.

This pin was created by a NZ creative who has their own small business called “Natty”. Natty has been designing, creating and making for over 20 years and is based in Wellington. They are inspired by Aotearoa’s unique species and aim to evoke and celebrate the natural environment rather than impact on it. They aim to use natural materials for making and packaging as well as using local suppliers.
