Take your class for a deep dive into a variety of topics by booking our onsite education programme.

The programme covers a range of topics suitable for Years 11-13 that relate to Levels 1-3 NCEA – National Certificate of Educational Achievement Standards, the International Baccalaureate Curriculum and Cambridge International New Zealand.

Tiritiri Matangi’s Secondary Education programme gives secondary school students the chance to understand ecological processes, the impact of humans on our environment and learn about New Zealand’s unique ecology and biodiversity.

Woven through this educational experience, is an understanding of the interconnectedness of humans and nature, as exemplified through the Māori world view, “Ko au te whenua, ko te whenua ko au”, “I am the land, the land is me”.

Education Programmes

The Secondary School Education Programme provides a range of experiential opportunities to support classroom learning. The morning guided walk provides an engaging learning experience for students. After lunch we provide a range of student-led, engaging activities.

Focused learning units include Pest-Free Tiritiri Matangi, Genetic Variation and Change and The Use of Open Sanctuaries. Resources are available to support further learning in the classroom.
