Earrings - kawakawa
These NZ Made earrings depict the large heart shaped leaves of the Kawakawa tree.
Kawakawa has a long history of medicinal use by māori which continues today through its popular use in healing balms and teas. Holes are created in the leaves by our native caterpillars who feed on them, in tradtitonal practise leaves with holes were preferred. No matter what track you are walking on Tiritiri Matangi Island, you are almost guaranteed to see some kawakawa trees.
