These handmade earrings depict the unfurling frond of the silver fern, which has become an emblematic species of NZ.

Ferns make up an imporatnt part of the established and regenerating bush on Tiritiri Matangi Island. The koru design which can be found in traditional and contemporary art/design represents new beginnings, new life, balance and harmony.

These earrings are created by a NZ creative who has their own small business called “Natty”. Natty has been designing, creating and making for over 20 years and is based in Wellington. They are inspired by aotearoa’s unique species and aim to evoke and celebrate the natural environment rather than impact on it. They aim to use natural materials for making and packaging as well as using local suppliers.
