These handmade earrings depict the NZ Common Blue Butterfly / Pepe Ao Uri.

This species of butterfly is probably our most common but also most overlooked. This is due to their small size (nearly the size of these earrings) and the fact that they fly so close to the ground.

• Laser cut rimu wood

• Butterfly is approx 25mm wide and 14mm high

• Hand Painted (each pair is unique)

• Surgical Stainless steel 24mm hoops (good for sensitive ears)

• Finished naturally with beeswax

• Not designed to be worn swimming or in the shower

These earrings are created by a NZ creative who has their own small business called “Natty”. Natty has been designing, creating and making for over 20 years and is based in Wellington. They are inspired by aotearoa’s unique species and aim to evoke and celebrate the natural environment rather than impact on it. They aim to use natural materials for making and packaging as well as using local suppliers.
